Choosing the right material

Every Tubolito begins its journey with the selection of the ideal material. All our tubes are made from TPU, a high-end plastic renowned for its versatility and durability. However, there are different types of TPU that have different properties. Depending on the product’s purpose, we fine-tune the TPU properties — optimizing for maximum puncture resistance or achieving ultra-lightweight performance.

Testing for perfection

Once we’ve found the ideal material, prototypes are produced and subjected to extensive and rigorous testing. Here’s a glimpse into our process:

• Puncture and impact test: Resistance to punctures, cuts, snake bites, and other possible damages is evaluated using specialized machinery and real-world trials.
• Air retention: We ensure long-lasting air retention by inflating tubes and measuring air loss over time.
• Heat resistance: Tubes are tested at extreme temperatures. For instance, to ensure that Tubolitos can be used in varying climates and that storage in a hot car is not a problem, they have to endure prolonged storage in an oven.
• Brake test: All our tubes approved for rim brakes undergo the DIN 4210 test. This allows us to ensure that even long descents with prolonged braking and corresponding heat build-up are possible without risk.
• Rolling resistance: For those seeking maximum speed, we develop Tubolitos with very ultra-low rolling resistance, tested on our bench and on our ramp.
